Volunteers are the Heart of Red Cross!

The partnership between the Humboldt County Chapter and our volunteers is crucial to our ability to provide care and comfort to those in need. In fact, 97% of our national organization staffing needs are provided by volunteer labor.

Every year chapter volunteers respond to dozens of disasters that dramatically affect families in Humboldt County and beyond. The vast
majority of these are single family fires which leave families startled in the middle of the night. Our volunteers provide care and comfort in addition to a place to stay and a way to get food and clothing for the first few days.

Other volunteers are critical to the day-to-day running of the office. They help with clerical and bookkeeping duties and a variety of special projects. The possibilities are endless, as is our gratitude for those who choose to give their time and energy to the work of the American Red Cross as a volunteer.
