SafeCorps in Our Community

SafeCorps is one of our local AmeriCorps programs, a national program of service to the community ( SafeCorps ).

We are blessed to have two SafeCorps members placed with the Humboldt County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The 2010 SafeCorps team consists of Jason Hervin and Cris Jones. They are trained and certified to teach all of our courses.

Our SafeCorps team is active in four main areas:

  • Community Disaster Education (CDE) presentations. Presentations are given to school classes at all levels, community organizations, senior centers, and any other groups who request the information.
  • Volunteer Management. SafeCorps members are responsible to recruit new volunteer, coordinate their services, and help in retaining existing volunteers.
  • Health and Safety. They teach community members and volunteers alike in the various CPR/First Aid classes, disaster services courses, and instructor training.
  • Disaster Services. SafeCorps members are also responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Humboldt County Chapter of the Red Cross Disaster Services program.
